Quit Smoking


Do you want to quit smoking or avoid relapses, but want to do things at your own pace? You can! In addition to supporting you, the Quit Smoking Centres offer one-on-one meetings that are tailored to your needs and geared toward helping you cut back or stop smoking. You can benefit from these services if you:

  • Use tobacco products and/or vape nicotine
  • Are thinking about or have already decided to cut back or quit
  • Are relapsing
  • Want to do something about your tobacco use
  • Are a teenager (as long as you have a parent’s permission if you are under the age of 14 or are accompanied) or an adult
  • Want personalized support
  • Are thinking about asking for a prescription for a pharmacological aid such as nicotine replacement therapy

What services are available?

Benefit from one-on-one meetings with counsellors at our Quit Smoking Centres. It’s free and will help you effectively kick the habit, whether you smoke or vape. Here are the types of meetings available: 

  • In-person meetings held at the CLSC or over the phone
  • Daytime or evening meetings held on weekdays and that last about an hour 
  • Examples of topics discussed at meetings:
  • Profile of smokers and vapers
  • Motivation for quitting
  • Nicotine withdrawal symptoms
  • Action plan
  • Prescriptions for pharmacological aids reimbursed by the RAMQ (nicotine patches and gum)
  • Stress management
  • Healthy lifestyle habits
  • Relapse prevention
  • Useful and effective resources and tools 
  • Referrals to other CLSC resources as required
