This type of adoption applies to children from other provinces of Canada and from other countries.
Important : You cannot apply to adopt a child in Québec and apply to adopt from outside Québec (other provinces of Canada or internationally) at the same time.

To apply, you must :
- Be of legal age;
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- Live in Montréal.

1. Call the Secrétariat aux services internationaux à l’enfant (SASIE) at 514-873-5226 or 1-800-561-0246. They will explain the process.

2. You must then contact the Adoption Services Department at the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal to register your application: 514-989-1885, extension 1142.
The Adoption Services Department at the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal provides preparatory workshops on international adoption, support services, and post-adoption referrals.
