What is an occupational stress injury (OSI)?

An occupational stress injury (OSI) is any persistent psychological difficulty resulting from operational duties performed while serving affecting veterans, members of the CAF as well as active and retired members of the RCMP. Occupational stress injuries can also lead to physical symptoms such as sleep problems and chronic pain.

Examples of OSIs:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Other anxiety disorders (panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, etc.)
  • Mood disorders
  • Substance use disorders and other addictions

Goals

  • Assess occupational stress injuries (OSI) and their impact on your well-being and day-to-day life.
  • Create a personalized interdisciplinary treatment plan that includes family support, if needed.
  • Support individuals living with an OSI and their family members on their road to recovery.
  • Strengths-based, person-centered and evidence-based approach.
  • Collaborate with our community partners for comprehensive care (Veterans Affairs Canada, Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police) and community services.
