Wearing a mask remains mandatory if you have respiratory or gastro symptoms and in the following areas at our hospital centres:
Acute Care (Care Units, Emergency Department);
Out-Patient Care (medical clinics, family medicine groups, and clinics located in hospital centres);
Mental health units and mental health Emergency Departments;
Rehabilitation.
In a Residential and Long-Term Care Centre (CHSLD)
Visiting hours
- Visits are encouraged between 8 am and 8 pm.
- However, out of respect for the lives and safety of the residents, the doors are always open.
- Certain restrictions may apply. Check with the CHSLD or the unit.
General Guidelines
- If you have any symptoms of an infection or an illness, please refrain from visiting your loved one.
- Practice hand hygiene upon arriving at the facility and when entering or leaving the room.
- The use of a mask is no longer mandatory in our CHSLDs, but optional, except in the situations described below:
- You have symptoms of respiratory infection or gastroenteritis;
- You are visiting or working on a unit under surveillance alert or unit experiencing outbreak of respiratory infection;
- You are less than 2 meters from patients in the following areas:
- Acute care unit;
- Care or living environment related to rehabilitation.
- We encourage anyone whose state of health puts them at risk to wear a mask.
- If there is an outbreak in the CHSLD, additional guidelines may be provided.
- If your loved one is in isolation, follow the measures in effect and do not hesitate to speak to the care teams.

Birthing Center
- Before the Birth - Delivery Room

- Baby’s grandparents, siblings: From 8 am to 8 pm
- Other family members and friends: From 6 pm to 8 pm
- “Quiet Time” is from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm. During this time, the lights are dimmed, the intercom is used sparingly and the healthcare team limits their interventions. This hour-long rest period is meant to strengthen the bond between you and your newborn as well as encourage breastfeeding. Please ask your visitors to come before or after “Quiet Time”.
- Additional Information
- Children under the age of 12 are not allowed on the unit (with the exception of the newborn’s siblings).
- Visiting hours are strictly enforced. Please notify your family and friends.
- During your stay, we prefer that flowers and other gifts be sent to your home rather than the hospital and that the number of visitors be kept to a minimum.
- Our visiting hours, which have been established with you in mind, are aimed at:
- Encouraging periods of rest and a speedy recovery for you and your baby
- Ensuring the care and safety of your baby
- Maximizing learning opportunities for you as a family
- Preventing infections

- Two visitors at a time.
- Children are not allowed on the unit (with the exception of the newborn’s siblings).

Family Birthing Unit (UFN)
- At any time.
- Certain restrictions may apply.
- The staff reserves the right to limit the number of visitors.
- No visitors are allowed if the baby is in Intermediate Care. Only parents may visit.
Note: Visits must not interfere with family care. Visits from individuals under the age of 18, with the exception of siblings, are discouraged.
Emergency Department
- At any time.
- Certain restrictions may apply.
- The staff reserves the right to limit the number of visitors.
- Care units and residential centres (CHSLD)
- From 8 am to 8 pm.

Universal unit
- Day surgery, endoscopy and pre-admission: Patients may be accompanied by one person, provided they wait in the waiting area or outside the hospital.
- Colposcopy: patients may not be accompanied.
