Adopting a child in Québec by first becoming a Mixed Bank Foster Family

This type of adoption involves children who were removed from their family home following a report to the Youth Protection Directorate (DYP).

These children quickly need to find a living environment that is stable and suitable, and under certain conditions set out in the Civil Code of Québec, may be declared eligible for adoption.

Please note

The Youth Protection Act favours the child returning to their parents, which it believes is in the best interest of the child, provided that the parents address and overcome their difficulties.

Adoption is only considered if the child cannot be returned. However, a child can be entrusted to a Mixed Bank Foster Family  even if the possibility of adoption is not certain.

Our children and their families are English-speaking and receive services in English under the Youth Protection Act or the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services.
