Foster families

Are you single, a couple, or already have a family and wanting to become a foster family? Are ready to be responsible for a young person and include them as a member of your family? We are looking for foster families to welcome children from 0 to 17 years old into their homes.

• You are an English-speaking family;
• You live on the Island of Montréal;
• You like children and young people, and you have time to give them;
• Your home is safe and comfortable;
• You want to contribute to developing a young person’s physical, emotional, and intellectual potential. 
• You have at least one bedroom available to accommodate children.

Note: To express your interest, please leave a message on our voicemail with your full name and contact details.  A caseworker will call you back as soon as possible to schedule a phone call. If you meet all the eligibility requirements, you will be invited to an information night, followed by a pre-selection meeting. You will then be notified of the status of your application and, if it is accepted, you will be asked to fill out paperwork to prepare your file for the assessment process.

2. You will need to fill out some forms and provide references.

Note: Once all of your documents have been received, you will be assigned a resource caseworker to complete the home evaluation process. A report on your application will be presented to the Foster Family Assessment Committee, who will determine whether you are designated as a foster family. 

3. Once you have been approved, you will sign a contract before a child is placed with you.

Children placed in foster care are aged 0 to 17 years old and have generally had difficult experiences in their family environment (neglect, rejection, physical or sexual violence). They may also have behavioural issues, emotional or social issues, or developmental delays. 

They come from many different ethnocultural and religious backgrounds. In order to meet their needs, we are committed to placing children with families of similar ethnocultural and religious backgrounds to the extent possible. 

Note: Our children and their families are English-speaking and receive services in English under the Youth Protection Act or the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services.
