A second round of onsite visits by Accreditation Canada surveyors will take place from May 14 to 19. This time around, the focus will be on the Support for Elderly Autonomy Program Directorate and the Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Physical Disability Programs Directorate. Here is a list of some simple things you can start doing every day in order to be well prepared and in compliance with best practices.

    • Know all the emergency preparedness colour codes  and the required responses
    • Respect the confidential nature of patient information and medical charts (e.g., never leave a chart open or in view of anyone other than yourself)
    • Respect the user’s privacy during interventions
    • Ensure the safe storage of any equipment that is used
    • Know where clinical/administrative forms are kept and know how to fill them out
