Work is progressing smoothly on the site of the new Maison des aînés (MDA) Denis-Benjamin-Viger, located at 4601 boulevard des Sources. This new facility will ultimately accommodate 192 seniors with significant loss of autonomy, most of whom will come from the existing Centre d’hébergement Denis-Benjamin-Viger in the borough of L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève.
The seven-storey building will include 16 residential units consisting of 12 individual air-conditioned rooms, each with its own bathroom and adapted shower. This new facility introduces an innovative approach to long-term residential care, aiming to create homelike settings that benefit both residents and their loved ones.
The first residents are expected to move in during the spring of 2026.
Have a look at the video to see the progress being made on-site by a team of more than 200 workers!

How to request a placement in an MDA?
The MDA admission process is identical to the CHSLD admission process.
These facilities are designed to accommodate the same type of clientele, i.e. seniors with a significant loss of autonomy.
To begin an admission process, residents must contact their local CLSC and ask for the Home Care Services Department, so that a caregiver can assess the user's abilities.
The results of this assessment will determine whether a need for a residential ressource has been identified, or whether another solution would better meet the user's needs.
It should be noted that if the need for a residential ressource is not indicated, it is not possible to put a user's name on a waiting list, whether in a CHSLD or an MDA.
