On August 7, construction work on the Dorval Alternative Home was officially completed. Achieving this important milestone has been a carefully orchestrated effort involving many teams and committed partners.
The critical phase of commissioning the building will take place over the next eight weeks or more. Many resources will be involved in this step, during which the interior of the facility will be furnished and configured. The staff will be trained in these new spaces. All of this is in preparation for the progressive arrival of the first residents this fall.
The Dorval Alternative Home will become a residential facility for adults (aged 18 years and over) with physical or intellectual disabilities or an autism spectrum disorder (ID-ASD-PD) who require significant healthcare and rehabilitation services. The goal is to provide the facility’s residents with a modern, functional living environment that is centred around and adapted to their needs. It should feel like home.
