April is Autism Awareness Month

At the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, let’s embrace autism in all its diversity!

We’re celebrating the 39th edition of Autism Awareness Month in collaboration with the Fédération québécoise de l’autisme.

This year, their awareness campaign looks at the diverse reality of autism in order to promote a more inclusive society for, with, and by autistic individuals!

At our CIUSSS

Did you know that the ID-ASD-PD Directorate has a close-knit team of 400 employees?

They are committed to providing a wide range of services that promote the integration and social participation of individuals with:

  • an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • an intellectual disability (ID) or
  • a physical disability (PD)
  • and to their loved ones.

This includes providing assistance and support for autistic adults that meet their needs and living arrangements, including community integration and job searches. In 2022, over 200 autistic individuals benefited from the socio-professional services we provide in the community. Of these, 18 found paid employment!

One Success Story

Lena Baldoni, who takes part in the work program at Ste. Anne’s Hospital, had a wonderful idea. In addition to her regular tasks, she and some of her other colleagues created two magnificent paintings to brighten up this residential facility.

We congratulate everyone who takes part in this work program: Lena Baldoni, Jed-Clyde Bermillo, Zoe Chalkousi, Cédric Comtois, Stéphanie Nguyen, Mina Todaro, and Lisa Walsh.
