Black History Month

    Black History Month

February is Black History Month. Let’s take the time to learn about these communities, particularly their contributions to our health and social services. We encourage all directorates to highlight this event.

In line with our mission, our objectives and our organizational values (agility - respect - partnership), the MWI IUHSSC is committed to creating a kind and empathetic environment, not only for the populations we serve, but also for everyone who contributes to the achievement of our mission. This fall, the organizational policy on equity, diversity, inclusion and cultural safety was adopted. Plans are underway for its deployment.

The origin of Black History Month in Quebec

“Black History Month is celebrated annually in Quebec and in many parts of the world by various public, private and community institutions. In Quebec, the Black History Month Roundtable has been organizing activities for the past 30 years that allow the Quebec population to discover the richness and diversity of Black communities and to pay tribute to people who have distinguished themselves in various fields.”
