Telehealth Station, from Space to Earth

A Canadian First!

The CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal is proud to present its latest pilot project: The Telehealth Station…a Canadian first! Located at the CLSC de Pierrefonds, this project enables users to monitor and see to their own health.

The Telehealth Station is a room equipped with high-tech devices that patients can use to take various measurements themselves, including blood pressure, pulse and blood oxygen levels.

This innovative and ingenious technology will improve our understanding of health and increase patient autonomy by involving them in their preventive care.

A Project Made Possible by an initiative of the Canadian Space Agency

The Canadian Space Agency called on visionaries to develop technologies that could be used in space to monitor the health of astronauts remotely. With innovative healthcare solutions developed by Baüne, a company with roots in both Québec and Alberta, these same technologies are now available in our new Telehealth Station.

As a result, users at the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal will be able to benefit from these devices, which will have a real impact on healthcare promotion and prevention.

Who is the Telehealth Station Intended For?

For the first phase of the project, the CIUSSS is prioritizing users who have specific conditions and who do not have a family physician.  Thanks to the preventive monitoring, this technology can help prevent health-related complications.  Should the results indicate any cause for concern, users will be seen by a physician quickly.
