Before your internship

If your internship application is accepted, the university teaching team or your educational institution will contact you.

Enjoy and take full advantage of your internship experience. To help smooth your transition into your new team and to follow the practices in place at the site where you will be doing your internship, please take the time to go through this section.

1. Documents to complete before starting your internship: 

• Criminal Record Disclosure Form
• Consent to privacy form
• Consent form for collecting contact details for the purpose of recruitment
• Policy on the use of information and internet assets

ID card (mandatory) 

During your internship, you must wear the ID card that was issued to you by your educational institution at all times. Certain disciplines or facilities also require a Montréal West Island CIUSSS ID card. If such is the case, the university teaching team will instruct you on how to obtain one.

Access to the facilities

Some internships require that the intern have keys to specific areas within our facilities. If such is the case, the university teaching team will instruct you on how to obtain a key.

Note: You may be asked for a deposit in exchange for the key (cash is preferable).  

Parking 

Parking is available for the duration of the internship at some of the Montréal West Island CIUSSS facilities.  

• Hôpital de LaSalle: There is a parking lot located in front of the hospital. The cost is $8 a day. 
• Lakeshore General Hospital: Parking is available on site at a cost of $2.00 a day.
  Note: If you have a daytime internship position that exceeds 7 days, you will be required to pay the full amount for the length of your internship in addition to a $20 deposit that will be refunded at the end of your internship. Parking fees must be paid at the Accounting office.
•  Douglas Mental Health University Institute: Parking is available on site at a cost of $6.25 a day.

Lockers 

Locker space in our facilities is limited. If you are doing an individual preceptorship with an internship supervisor, they will tell you where to store your personal belongings.

Please note that in some of our facilities, steps are being taken to secure lockers for interns who are part of a group internship.
