COVID-19—Renewing health insurance cards

Given the current situation with COVID-19, our CLSCs will not be renewing health insurance cards until further notice. Similarly, the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) has closed its Montréal office, located at 425 de Maisonneuve W. until further notice.

For those people who have received a renewal notice, health insurance cards can still be renewed by mail without a photo.

And exceptionally, expired cards will be accepted for urgent treatment.

Furthermore, all screening and testing related to COVID-19 will be available to all, regardless of the health insurance situation.

All of these points therefore apply to those who are homeless. More specific options for renewing health insurance cards are still being examined by the RAMQ, given that these individuals do not currently receive a renewal notice and therefore cannot renew by mail.
